Houseboat base Dolgoproudny by LesCanalous
Dolgoproudny is a city of approximately 100,000 inhabitants. Its name means "long pond," referring to a long and narrow basin in the northeast of the city. However, the name Dolgoproudny is sometimes familiarly abbreviated to Dolgopa: A variety of activities await you there, such as a visit to St. George's Church or the Temple of the Icon of Our Lady of Perdition. You can also admire the famous Cinderella sculpture and finish with a little culture at the Natural History Museum! Cultural opportunities in Russia are incredibly vast and diverse. There's something to discover around every corner; between statues, monuments, and museums, this country also has a lot to offer in terms of cuisine.
The departure port of Dolgoprudny is located near Moscow. A cruise from this base will immerse you in Russian culture and discover beautiful landscapes. Crossing the monumental locks is something special! Moscow is a water city, connected to five seas by the Moscow-Volga Canal: the White Sea, the Caspian Sea, the Baltic Sea, the Sea of Azov, and the Black Sea. This is why Moscow is also called the "Port of the Five Seas." Further north is the departure port of Kalyazin: an ideal starting point for a cruise on the Volga. Many artists have been inspired by this beautiful river and its picturesque landscapes: writers, painters, and lyricists, among others. Between 1930 and 1940, the Volga was dammed at Kalyazin, and a large part of the city was submerged in the floods, including St. Nicholas Cathedral, built around 1800. Upon arrival, you'll see the mighty bell tower rising from the water, preserved to this day. This outstanding architectural heritage bears witness to Russia's history. A family-friendly and generous cuisine is offered there: no eccentricity, but traditional, down-to-earth, and delicious.
