Die Hausboot-Basis Homps liegt in einem alten kommerziell genutzten Hafen, der im 19. Jahrhundert zum drittgrößten Hafen des Canal du Midi ernannt wurde.

Die Alten Römer, Karl der Große, Franz der Erste – sie alle träumten von einer Verbindung zwischen Atlantik und Mittelmeer. Selbst der geniale Erfinder Leonardo da Vinci tüftelte an der Idee herum, scheiterte aber dennoch an der Lösung eines massiven Problems: einen Kanal über 190 Höhenmeter zu führen und dabei konstant schiffbar zu halten.
